What Is Google Gemini and When You Could See It Released?

What Is Google Gemini?,

Much like ChatGPT, Google Gemini is a Large Language Model (LLM). LLM is a machine-learning model that attempts to understand natural language through an AI algorithm. Therefore, it is a subdivision of Natural Processing Language (NLP). With the help of large data sets it can produce meaningful new content.

Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai announced Google Gemini at the Google I/O Developer Conference 2023 in California. Previously, Pathways Language Model 2 (PaLM2) was Google’s only AI technology but now Google Gemini aims to enhance its reach by dealing with multimodal technology. A multimodal AI takes data from multiple streams in a variety of forms such as text, audio, video, and images.

The integration of multiple AI models that can perform many functions. It is not only aiming to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4 but also Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot for better code-generating efforts. Furthermore, AlphaGo, which comes under Google’s DeepMind, also influenced the creation of this new technology. It is possible that Gemini would take the place of PaLM2 and get control over everything ranging from Google Maps to Google Translate.

Google Gemini Features

The news of Google Gemini which has reached different media outlets suggests that it is going to be the most powerful AI technology to date. Therefore, it has many features which other AI tools may have yet to have. DeepMind does have previous multimodal models but Google Gemini is a multimodal technology that has enabled it to learn data in a variety of forms such as text and images. As a result of combining multiple models, Gemini would be able to take up tasks of any size.

As part of Google Gemini AI’s model, reinforcement learning would be a valuable addition to the technology. This means that the AI would be in a constant process of learning and change so the probability of inaccuracies can be ruled out. This continuous process ensures that Gemini offers correct and up-to-date information to its users. One of its most notable features is its episodic memory banks which would be to obtain and store data so that its knowledge will continue to grow.

Similarly to PaLM2, Google Gemini will be available in four sizes:

  1. Gecko: this is the smallest out of the bunch and is designed keeping in view the accessibility of mobile devices and other limited environments. Therefore, it is created as a lightweight technology.
  2. Otter: this is significantly bigger than Gecko and has more parameters than its previously mentioned counterpart. This is why it has more power and focuses on both size and performance. Though it is mostly can be used for unimodal tasks.
  3. Bison: this is the second-biggest version of Gemini with almost four times the amount of parameters as Otter. The model is great for Natural Language Processing (NLP) as well as text generation. Therefore, it is a potential competitor to ChatGPT.
  4. Unicorn: this is the largest model of Gemini that would be available once it comes out. With 1.5 trillion parameters, it can be used for a range of multimodal purposes. Its capabilities would surpass that of ChatGPT and any other LLM out there.

Will Gemini Have More Power Than ChatGPT?

Ever since the announcement at the Google I/O Developer Conference 2023, people have been asking how Gemini would compare to ChatGPT. In the past few months, ChatGPT has gained quite a lot of popularity based on its capabilities. This is why when a new AI technology is ready to hit the markets soon, people wonder who would win when it’s Google Gemini vs GPT-4.

ChatGPT has been praised for its highly accurate language model. It has been built on large data and can provide answers to the users’ questions within seconds. Its responses are usually comprehensive and satisfactory as reviewed by many people. However, Gemini would be much more accurate and is set to perform at greater speed than that of ChatGPT. Furthermore, it will also need fewer computational resources than GPT-4 to be fully functional. This is why it wouldn’t be as costly for businesses.

As the Google Gemini AI Model is based on a large set of data, it has more information than ChatGPT. It will not only be able to offer more elaborate answers but give content that is also significantly more creative than its counterparts. This is why the text it will produce will make for more engaging content. In addition to that the new AI technology is going to be less biased. Therefore, ChatGPT’s fairness concerns can also be resolved with Google Gemini.

ChatGPT is used to better understand user behavior and needs which makes it important for app store optimization (ASO). However, with Google Gemini, the changing user behaviors will be identified more quickly and consistently. As Gemini is based on reinforcement learning, its information will be updated constantly. As user behaviors and needs are dynamic elements, this learning would facilitate Google Gemini to offer more accurate information for optimization.

Another essential feature that will make Google Gemini more powerful than ChatGPT is that it will understand context in a better way. It will make note of the meaning of phrases that will make up the text so that it only gives the most relevant answer possible. ChatGPT understands context as well but it does so to a limited degree. Therefore, based on the prompt given to it, it is more likely to generate less accurate answers than Gemini.

However, ChatGPT would still be better at long-form content even when Google Gemini comes out. Gemini will be able to generate long-form answers such as articles and essays but it will be specially created for short-form content. Therefore, if in the future you want to create long-form responses, ChatGPT would be a more powerful tool for that particular use.

Will Google Gemini replace Bard?

Bard is a generative AI project of Google that makes use of both machine learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) as a way to function. It is similar to ChatGPT as it is also an AI chat service that attempts to generate human-like responses to the prompts that are given to it. Bard was initially released in March 2023. However, it is only just getting more attention. Even though it is a pretty recent development Google Bard can still be replaced.

When analyzing Google Gemini AI vs Bard, it is important to know that Gemini would essentially be powering the Bard chatbot once it comes out. At first, Bard will receive the Gemini Pro version. However, after only a few months users will have access to the Gemini Ultra version. When Bard was tested with Gemini Pro across eight standard benchmarks, it performed better than GPT-3.5 in six out of all the categories.

At first, Bard with Gemini Pro will only be available in English but as its release reaches more countries, it will be available in other languages as well. At first, it will only be responsive to text but then it will be become multimodal. Gemini Ultra will come later, sometime in 2024. It will be able to process a variety of information in the form of text, audio, videos and images. With all these new developments to Bard, it will be significantly more advanced. Therefore, there won’t be a need for just using Bard. When Gemini can offer more features, it is very likely that Bard will be replaced in the process.

Gemini AI is a More Human

Though the concept of multimodal technology isn’t exactly new. Even ChatGPT has attempted to implement multimodal AI to a limited extent. However, it does so very superficially because the availability of content in different formats of information is still not done very well. However, as AI is evolving, there is more focus on the multimodal aspect of it. The need for AI to be multimodal comes for the need for it to be more human.

Google Gemini AI model is going to be the closest human-like AI invention to date. Generative AI is meant to copy human behavior and replicate it. However, most generative AI models are only limited to certain datasets and function. It can either write reports or chat or create images. However, as humans we are capable of multi-tasking which is why most AI fail to behave like a human would. They are not able to interpret different forms of data such as text, audio, and visuals that humans are so easily able to do.

Gemini would be able to act more like a human and respond to all of the data formats. Therefore, it will have the capacity to be creative and have contextual understanding of the content it will produce. It’s multimodal success is reflective of its success to be more like a human. When tested on Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU), Google Gemini was able to receive a 90% score on the academic backgrounds. This was more than any of the scores of all the human experts. It’s reasoning and problem-solving abilities were noticed across a variety of subjects like maths, ethics, medicine and history.

However, there is a concern that as AI turns more human-like it would start to take over jobs and replace humans in various industries. In response to such concerns, Sundar Pichai said that they would create more safeguards and work to ensure that any such risks are managed effectively.

What is the Google Gemini AI’s release date?

Google Gemini is set to come in three variations: Nano, Pro and Ultra.Gemini Nano that will be the smallest version of LLM should be available around 6th December for any developers who want it. While Gemini Pro is already a part of Vertex AI, which is a Google cloud machine learning AI, and will be available for developers on 13th December. Google Gemini AI release date for Ultra model will not be until early next year.

Previously, the multimodal technology was meant to be released earlier. The representatives of the company said that it would be available to everyone by November. However, because there was some issues with non-English queries, Google decided to delay its release. Google wanted Gemini to be available to everyone and, therefore, didn’t want to risk getting bad reviews. Yet, it is hopeful that all these concerns will be resolved and Gemini would be successfully released early in 2024. If you still want to test it out, Google Gemini is available in Nano and Pro versions.

How Will You Use Google Gemini?

If you are interested in using Google Gemini then you can do so by using Google Bard. The chat service has been upgraded with the Gemini Pro version. This means now you have access to more advanced functions. As the Ultra version has yet to be released, you will only be able to enter text-based prompts into the chatbot.

Google Gemini is easy to use. You can visit the Google Bard site and then open the chatbox. This is where you will enter your prompts. It is very similar to how you use ChatGPT. Before you enter you prompt, you will be given three options to choose from: Understand, Create and Explore. Based on the nature of your prompt, you will choose an option and then input your text. You should get a response within a few seconds.

Furthermore, if you have Pixel 8 Pro then you will also be able to use Gemini Nano on your Whatsapp. However, it is not available to any other devices as of yet.
