Many of us have a secret desire to be heroes and for the world, at least for a moment, to treat us this way. For most of us, it remains a dream. The vast majority of us are too scared to do something heroic that may also put us in danger. We rarely have a cause that is just enough to warrant such sacrifice. Few people need rescuing. 

Fallen Legacies sound like rock musicians who have found a way to ensure they can be viewed and remembered as heroes. The fact is that even if we possess the aforementioned characteristics, there’s also a strong reason to assume that the world will immediately forget our moment of glory. And if it can get erased this easily, what good is it anyway? 

Fallen Legacies’s “Lighthouse” sounds like the music of people who have long dreamt of wearing a cape and representing guitar-driven rock music. It may be a working-class fantasy, but this Gaslight Anthem-like anthemic pop-punk number carries with it a sense of courage and bravery in front of terrible odds that not only shows that the musicians of Fallen Legacies have this within them but should also offer evidence as time goes by. And, yes, while the vocals may be a little hard around the edges, the hookiness of the melodies could easily help you forget about this. It’s a time for heroes, after all!

Skitz Wizards – Wage Slave

We’re into a new year in which you’re likely to hear a lot about the groups that you ought to be a part of and about the groups that you should hate because they include people who are different from you. Yes, you will be asked to vote for your party, buy the products that best suit you, and donate to the causes that represent your interests. 

And while that should be enough to keep you occupied for the whole of the year, Skitz Wizards think you might be missing the essential. That’s because, unless you belong to a rare and ever-shrinking minority, you are tied to your work and to your paycheck like a mule, hoping their master won’t forget to give them a swig of water once in a while. 

Skitz Wizards’ “Wage Slave” is a protest song filled with anger. It doesn’t mince words because the people behind the music know very well what’s going on. The world is filled with people who want to be bosses not because of the prestige that the title holds but because of the power it holds over people. It’s enough to make you sick. It’s why we try to forget that’s what life’s usually been like. If you prefer remembering that, Skitz Wizards are doing this for you as well.
