These disorders are characterized by a persistent pattern of dysfunctional behaviors, thoughts, and emotions that deviate from societal norms and cause significant distress and impairment in one’s life. There are ten specific types of personality disorders, as outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).
